Page Policy
The purpose of the NERO® Epic Page Policy is to encourage young teen’s to learn how NERO® works and to learn the skills that will help them to be a successful and quality NERO® player. This Page Policy is a supplement to the NERO® Rule Book; all Pages should study the NERO® Rule Book in order to fully understand the game of NERO®.
These rules are not meant to prohibit the fun and enjoyment of NERO® but to allow the Pages to develop an understanding of the concepts of the game. Concepts such as the basics of Role Playing, the ability to separate what is In-Game and what is Out-of-Game, and the many other intricacies of the game of NERO®. Any Page found violating these policies could face disciplinary action including being suspended form NERO® Epic Functions.
Sincerely,
The NERO® Epic Staff

1. Page Ages
At the age of 13 young teens may participate as Pages in NERO® Epic functions. At the age of 15 they may then begin to participate as full players with full access to all skills and abilities in NERO®. Pages will receive full experience points for the events they participate in. NERO® Epic will cover half the loose for Pages and then Pages may cover the other half or their loose in what ever accepted manner they choose in order to receive full experience points for that event.
2. Guardians
For each Page that attends a NERO® Epic function there has to be a Legal Guardian that has signed the Official Page Release. Pages are required to stay with their Guardian at all times. Pages should always be within sight of their listed Guardians and can not be “left” with anyone that is not listed as a Guardian in the NERO® Epic Page Release.
3. Yellow Headbands
All pages are required to wear a Yellow Headband at all times while they are at a NERO® Epic function. This headband allows the other players and NPC’s to recognize them as Pages and not engage them in combat.
4. In-Game Relationships
Pages (or any minor) should never be allowed to develop any type of In-Game Relationship of a romantic nature. NERO® Epic Staff reserves the right to step in if we notice such a thing happening because this could result in legal issue that could open both NERO® Epic and NERO® International to potential Lawsuits or other legal actions.
5. Combat
Pages are not allowed to engage in combat (weapon nor packet) unless on a Page Specific Module (see section 9).
Pages must also attempt to stay out of the area of combat if combat should occur near them or with their Guardians. If they are within the combat area when combat does occur then they need to make every attempt to get outside of the combat area.
NPC’s will never be instructed to go after Pages, unless on a Page Specific Module, but at night the Yellow Headbands can sometimes be hard to see.
6. In-Game Deaths
It is possible for a Page to be “killed” in-game; this occurs when a Page may get to close to a combat or if they are in a non-combat situation and snuck up on by a NPC. The procedure for “Slaying” a page is for the NPC to be within weapon distance and say “Page I slay you” while pointing, but not touching, the weapon in the Page’s direction. A “Page Slay” may be stopped if another player is also within weapon distance and says “Page I defend you”. At no time should the Page purposefully be hit with a weapon or packet except when on a Page Module.
If a page is killed they must follow the standard death count and can be brought back to life with any of the standard in-game methods. If none are given then the Page must put on a white headband and go to an Earth Circle for a resurrection, just as any other player. However, any in-game Death’s that a Page suffers will not count on their card and will be treated as a “Plot Death”. This allows for the fun of the “fear factor” and the Role Play of deaths with out “punishing” the Page since they do not have the in-game ability to defend themselves
7. In-Game Skills
While Pages do acquire experience points and build points when they play they are not allowed to use their build points to buy any In-Game skills until they become full PC’s at the age of 15. The only exception to this will be on Page Specific Modules.
8. In-Game Items
Since Pages cannot buy skills and defend themselves they are not allowed to have nor hold any In-Game items, including in-game coin, on their persons. They may acquire or be given in-game coin, but they may not carry it around with them and should instead arrange for someone to hold their IG possessions for them. The only exception to this is when the Storytellers give the Page something specifically for their use in a Page Specific Module or if they receive an item, such as a Page Blade weapon, labeled as “Page Use Only, Not Steal-able, No IG Value”.
9. Page Blades
Pages may have a NERO® safe weapon that they can carry around with them in the game. These are referred to as “Page Blades”. This is to allow the Pages to Role Play the fact that they are “Adventurers in Training” and the weapons represent a wooden practice weapon.
These Page Blades must follow NERO® weapon guidelines and be checked each event just as any other weapon would be. The weapons must be a brown, wood like, color to represent the idea that they are wooden practice weapons. They must also have a “Page Blade item tag” attached to them. The tags will be given at Check-in/Logistics.
These Page Blades have no in-game value and cannot be used by other players nor can they be stolen from the Page. If the Pages resurrects then the weapon will go with them.
10. Page Modules
At each event we try to run a specific module that is only for Pages. These Page Modules are designed to allow Pages to use some of the in-game skills that they will have the opportunity to buy once they become a full PC. Page modules are operated in a controlled environment and with a small number of NPC’s so that the Pages are not overwhelmed and any safety risks are minimized.
A guardian is required to be present during these modules. They may either be there In-Game or Out of Game depending on the Storytellers decision running the module.
